SUPVIS-JUSTIN at the 13th Symposium on Advanced Space Technologies in Robotics and Automation
Today we are presenting our recent progress in developing the SUPVIS-JUSTIN experiment at the 13th Symposium on Advanced Space Technologies in Robotics and Automation (ASTRA). The symposium is held at ESA ESTEC in Noordwijk, The Netherlands.
The presentation is based on our paper, “Simulating an Extraterrestrial Environment for Robotic Space Exploration: The METERON SUPVIS-JUSTIN Telerobotic Experiment and the SOLEX Proving Ground”. Following our previous overview on the Supvis-Justin experiment at Humanoids 2014 and HRI 2015, this presentation goes into more detail on the ground experiment component for SUPVIS-JUSTIN. We discuss the concept and developments of the SOLar Farm EXperimental Space Robotics Validation environment (SOLEX), which will serve as our platform to try out different space robotics ideas for SUPVIS-JUSTIN and beyond. It will be constructed in the new Robotics and Mechatronics Center at DLR Oberpfaffenhofen in Germany. We also show preliminary results of the robotic control strategies required do maintain the Solar Panel Units (SPU), which are integrated into the SOLEX environment.
The paper can be found in our Media Library.
